Trainetics is a Keynote Speaker At The MSE Perioperative Training Day

Trainetics was invited as a keynote speaker on how the science and practice of Human Factors can potentially support clinical performance.

Trainetics RCEM Human Factors

Trainetics explored the importance of key Human Factors principles that can be integrated within education training, the diagnosis processes and related guidelines, such as: ‘seeking out multiple perspectives (staff, patients, carers); ‘reconciling work-as-imagined and work-as-done’; and the critical importance of the user-centred design of work procedures such as protocols and checklists.

Just Culture was explored; learning from mistakes to improve patient safety rather than punishing individuals for human errors. Balancing individual accountability for conscious misconduct with organisational responsibility for flawed systems; promoting a culture where people are held accountable for their choices, but not for system failures, to foster open reporting and systemic improvement.
