Having originally started as a Royal Air Force officer, Phil transferred to a civilian flying training programme and then joined British Airways in 1989. His flying career has included a range of both 2 and 4 engined Boeing and Airbus aircraft in the short and long haul arena culminating as a senior trainer and entry into service Captain on the Airbus A350.

His journey has served to highlight that once we are competent at what we do, it is human factors which determine how far we can go. Human capabilities will limit us before our technical competence does. It is this passion which continues to drive Phil in his day to day attitude towards personal and team development .

Beyond flying, his passions are balanced with a family and pets, including rehoming of service dogs, sports including golf and running, furniture making and support of a children's charity.
